Whenever the word windows is brought up this guy Martin starts blabbering about how superior Linux is to windows in every possible way. I don't see how he cannot realize that people choose their OS based on the functionality that they require, not whether one is superior to another. Bah... I'll watch and get myself flamed :D

Anyways, sign up. Flame :D. And let's hope the ATOT effect kills their bandwidth :D

I am a fanboy 1

I am a fanboy 2

Yes, once I start using linux I'll stop showering, shaving and losing all form of communication with the creatures known as "females". I will then start to mutter to myself about these facinating creatures and how I will one day capture one for myself. Hopefully my 3 foot long hair (both head and facial) and horrible stench will not scare the creature away.

or you can be a young professional like myself, driving a german sedan and using an operating system thats efficent and customizable to your needs. But if you know jack sh!t about unix, then theres no point in arguing with you since you never experienced the other side.

Linux is freedom. Freedom from developers. Freedom from high prices.

Just as with all types of freedom, some of its most outspoken supporters are the ones who appreciate it the least for its true meaning.

Linux is a tool. Linux is a FANTASTIC tool. It is not the be-all-end-all tool that many people paint it out to be.

Regardless of OS comparisons, Linux is undesputably superior in one aspect. It has provided a medium for the application of computing power in once computerless tasks lives moreso than any other OS. From simple rotuers to PDA's the idea behind linux has led to the application of computer processing power most anywhere. Linux isn't used in every application, but the egineering mentality behind them and the immense energy that drives people to come up of ways to use it that has led to these applications certainly is.

Linux was an operating system. Now it is an engineering model.

I've experience both sides, and neither one is more superior to the other. They are equal on their own terms.

*shrugs* I've tinkered in Linux extensively. Other than fantastic uptime - only IMO really useful on servers - Windows XP is superior in every nuance, save for cost. I don't know why I would deliberately hamstring myself by having my main desktop machine running Linux instead of Windows XP.

Eh, who really cares. They both accomplish the same thing. They just take different paths to get there. I use Gentoo and Windows, Windows is excellent for some things, and Gentoo others. There's really no point in debating which one is better.

german car went with the whole non-dork image. Feel free to drive your civics and camrys and continue living in your parents basement...

it really depends what you do with. My parents use xp because they couldnt deal with linux. I use almost exclusively linux because it is extremly efficent for what i do (java xml data exhange stuff).

That's a pretty inane analysis.
