Well my aunt found this computer someone was throwing out at her job. It is a 500 MHz P3 with 256MB of ram and 20GB HD. I set up XP SP2 with hotfixes up to December to see how slow/fast it would be. Turns out its not bad at all. Well, since GBPVR is setup and currently used 24/7 on my Windows box, I wanted throw a linux distro on this old box to play around with.

Which distro should I use? I like debian but I guess I can use with tarballs and all that

*I know this could probably be found in a search, but Opera Mini acting retarded right now.*

Thanks all.

If Windows works on there, you can probably do Ubuntu as well. Wouldn't be the fastest, but should be perfectly functional.

I beg to differ, I ran ubuntu 6.06 on my old POS 98 laptop running 300 mhz with 256 ram and ubuntu ran like a charm. my 2 cents
