Linux distribution with Evolution that uses POP protocol

Can anyone tell me if any of the newer Linux distributions still use a version of Evolution email client that still uses POP protocol for incoming mail delivery instead of the IMAP that is used in the later versions of Evolution ?

I have been using 11.04 Ubuntu and using Evolution for email and I still need to use POP protocol as used in that older version of Ubuntu because Verizon does not support IMAP protocol.

Thanks.

I'd be very surprised if Evolution didn't use POP. It may default to IMAP, but still should be able to set other protocols.

To kind of answer your question though, modern distros use modern software. Most will use the most recent version of software available, aside from freezes for release.

No, that's what I am saying, the latest versions of Evolution do NOT have a POP protocol available, or if they do, they sure must have it hidden well, because I sure can't find it !!!

You are correct, the OLDER versions of Evolution definately DID (as in past tense) have POP protocol (besides several others to choose from) but on the newest versions, ONLY IMAP protocol is offered.

Thanks.

This is an OLDER version of Evolution which is no longer used in the newer versions of Ubuntu and other Linux distributions - the drop down for the choice of incoming mail protocol is not available in the newer versions of Evolution.

What I am asking is if there is any except of a Linux distribution that does NOT use the newer versions of Evolution which does not a choice of protocols ?

Thanks.

I know what you're asking, and it's still there. It's the same in 3.6.2. Current version is 3.6.3. I can guarantee you they didn't remove POP access in in minor point release. Aside from that, picking a distro for obsolete software will guarantee you'll lose. It'll update eventually, and you won't have the features you wanted. Even if they didn't list it by name, entering POP server settings should make any client retrieve POP mail.

Thanks for your help.

Just to let you know, I did find the answer. You are correct it IS there, but unlike on the older versions for some reason, you have to click the BACK button in order to get the drop-down listing to display. To the best of my memory, I never had to do this on the older versions, when you got to the correct configuration screen during the setup portion of the program, the drop-down was there, did not have to go BACK to see it.
