I'm trying to setup Madrake 8.2 to act as a firewall, but for some reason neither eth0 or eth1 can't pull an addy from the cable modem.

Both cards can pull in ip straight from a windows box running ICS, so I know DHCPD is working. Linux uses the ICS server to browse the internet just fine.

Could it be possible that RR has assigned my windows box's eth card to be te only mac address that can pull an ip from the cable modem?
If so, do you think it's likely? I'll call RR if someone can verify this.

some cable systems grab the MAC address, when i got cable a couple weeks ago, i had a similar problem and thought that might be the case

turned out i just needed to power cycle the cable modem between switching from the windows pc to the linux boxen

did you try that?
