This is just a quick message for those of you who think LILO still has the 1023 cylinder restriction...this is simply not true anymore, it will boot from anywhere, anyhow. See The Unofficial LILO page for info.

The more important thing to notice is which distros include the newer version of LILO.

Anyone care to generate the list?

Well ya, it is somewhat important to know what distros have it...but if you know where to get it and you can install it I don't think it much matters. You can always put it and a kernel on a floppy to get the whole thing going.

For hardcore Linuxheads, yes. It isn't that much of a problem.

But, there are a few uninitiated folks how put that shiny CD in their formerly Windows-only hot rod and expect things to fly. Only disappointment and discouragement follow.
