Linux: Bittorrent, Java

I need very detailed instructions on how to install Bittorrent (Maybe Azureus...well, preferably) and java on the Kororaa linux...where to get the files, exactly how to install them, and everything...thanks

Nobody is going to give you very detailed instructions here. There is no point since you can find much better instructions elsewere in a short amount of time and a small amount of effort.

Kororaa is suppose to be a very simple way to install Gentoo. Gentoo is notorious for it's long install times due to having to compile everything using pre-built python scripts, kororaa is suppose to be a way around it.

Portage is what you would use in Gentoo to install this stuff, so go to gentoo's web page and learn how to use it. Azuerus will be aviable via portage as will probably java, although for java I don't know for certain.

There are numerious bittorrent clients for Linux. Dozens of them. So take your pick of something else if you can't get java to work. Don't forget that it originally was made to make it easy to download Linux install images.

Also don't forget that Kororaa is still very beta software.

Beta means that it's has known bugs and it is expect not to work correctly time to time.

If your using Linux for the first time you'd be much better off using a more production quality system with a large user base and good documentation. (Such as Ubuntu Dapper)

Since Kororaa runs is based off Gentoo, you'll need to learn about Gentoo's package management, portage. Gentoo has the best documentation I've ever read (imho). Here's an introduction to portage. I think there's an ebuild for java.

Hans, Kororaa (the XGL one) does not have portage installed (I know because I installed it a while ago). Therefore, you cannot install any program until you get Portage working and that's not an easy task.

Realy? That seems pretty silly.

So it's seems best to avoid Kororaa and either install Gentoo directly (which while it will take for a long time, you should be able to get XGL working with little effort), or install Suse or Ubuntu and follow those guys directions on getting XGL working, if that is what you want.
