Hey folks,

I'm looking for an app like smoothwall or m0n0wall but isn't a livecd or run entirely off of a floppy disk.

I'm not sure which path you were looking at, but smoothwall has been working pretty well for me. It's stored on a 10gb hdd, and runs without any hiccups. It doesn't have QoS installed natively, but you can install complete addons made by others for this feature. I would install the Community ISO, then update all the fixes.

Smoothwall has a forum dedicated to custom made addons for their community project under their "Homebrew Discussion (+Something else)".

Smoothwall was able to be completely installed and up and running within about 30 mins or so. I would take a look at the homebrew subforum to see if there are addons that would interest you.
