Linux...and how to get it?

i want to install linux on my computer.
i also don't want to lose anything that i already have in windows...i realize linux would need a separate partition...is there any way that i can install linux so that i don't have to remove windows?

a friend suggested buying a second harddrive...i'd like not to do this..so is there a better way?

An option is to get something like Partition Magic to repartition your harddrive to make room for Linux... This way you can make your Windows partition smaller without losing anything...

You can kill two bird with one stone here. TheRedhat Linux for dummies tells you exactly how to do this, and you get a copy of Linux 6.1 in the back. If you want 7.0 then go to the Pogo site and order a few copies free o charge. Do a search on this board to find the site.

Or alternatively you can get something called WinLinux, wich is a Linux system that installs in W9x, and is espcially useful if you are new to Linux and dont want to re-partition your drive to learn and or play with Linux. Just install from within W9x, click the icon in W9x and you are go.

Of course, once you are used and hooked to Linux, this will be a way too limiting distro, but if you are new to it its a nice way to explore the world of Linux without too much hassles!
