linux and dvds

There are almost no software to watch DVD on linux, because for now it's illegal to watch DVDs on linux ; ( ... you can find some projects , but most of them on play not protected dvds ; (
 
Well, if you are willing to pay there are a few companies that have dvd playback software for GNU/Linux. CyberLink's PowerDVD-Linux is probably the one that comes to mind. This company also make the best DVD playback software for the win32 platform--PowerDVD.
 
There is support for some dvd decoder cards.

There are software decoders, but thanks to politicians being bought and paid for to protect the movie industries buisness model they'll in a unknown legal state right now. the cases are going through court right now, but its not pretty.
