My main system runs on Linux. I really have next to no need for Windows at all, but have been using WINE to run some online poker software. Unfortunately, WINE doesn't work with some of them, so I'm considering putting together some spare parts I have (all I need is to pop in a cheap CPU and vid card and a cable to connect the two computers) for a second box to run Windows XP and use that exclusively for running the online poker software. I only have 1 monitor and I'd like to be able to switch back and forth conveniently between the linux and windows desktops.
Is there any way to have both on the same monitor at the same time and use software to switch between the two? I guess I could use one of those A/B switching boxes but I'd like to know what other options there are...
Also, if I just keep the Windows XP box connected to the internet and do my web browsing, downloading, and play poker on that one exclusively, but have my Linux box networked to the Windows box, is there any way to make sure the security of the Linux box not connected to the internet isn't compromised at all? or is there always going to be a risk when doing this?
Thanks in advance.
