From the email I just received:

For the next few days, we have a special offer where you can receive a copy of Linspire, hot-off-the-presses for free. That's right, zero dollars. But there's a catch - actually two. First, you must use a special coupon code. Simply click on $49.95 Linspire 4.5 OS from the order page. Then click on the 'Apply Coupon' button and enter the coupon code. Second, the download will only be available from our BitTorrent P2P system so our servers don't melt. Don't worry if you've never tried BitTorrent. It runs on Microsoft Windows, Macintosh and Linux computers and is easy to get started. We'll give you step by step instructions. And no, it's not an oversight that I haven't provided the actual coupon code. You'll have to guess what the one-word code is.

:frown: You also have to sign up for a free 15 day offer and supply a credit card number to do it.

I don't like the looks of this. I pass.

We all know that most flavors of Linux are free. That's a given. But Linspire is a great way to get someone started in the Linux world.

My 13 year old son is running Lindows 4 and only switches to Windows for games.

Not correct! Just click on the My Products CD Downloads when that screen shows up. You do not need to sign up nor supply a credit card number.

Is there a difference between this release & the previous release under the "Lindows" name?

Microsoft took them to court because of the name. Their lawsuit was thrown out in the states, so they can still use Lindows. But this does not applies abroad, where Microsoft is suing them in like 7 countries. I guess they grew tired of battling Microsoft's army of $10,000 $/hour lawyers.

I tried lindows before and it didn't support my scsi drives, and wouldn't mind trying it again, but it has to be bittorrent and I can't use that! Silly school blocking it.

To make that clearer, the school is blocking bit torrent, and the only option is bit torrent
