Linksys WRT54GS issues

Friend of mine has a Linksys WRT54GS ver7 wireless router (about 6months old), for some reason it and his desktop (wired) went crazy. Now for some reason the desktop can not get to the internet but is connected to the wifi router. I reset the wifi router like three times, tried to connect via ethernet and wireless adapter, tried connecting via ubuntu. The only time I got it to work correctly was when I used @ctive boot disk.

The Linksys works fine with his laptop though, wired and wifi. I could not figure out what the heck was going on with this thing. I would think it wouldnt have issues with the desktop since it needs it's mac address to access comcast. In the DHCP table, Linksys shows it has a ip assigned to it, but it will not let the desktop access the internet or 192.168.1.1. ipconfig on desktop shows its in broadcast mode, ip address 0.0.0.0, etc. Only thing is had assigned was DNS servers I believe.

Any help or suggestion?
(Sorry if thoughts are everywhere)

well no i didnt. the dhcp table showed that the desktop was given 198.168.1.102. Will keep that in mind next visit though.
