Linksys WRT54G router

Hi guys,

Just bought this router and set it up.
The LAN organization is a bit different than intended for this router: one server which acts as internet gateway, many computers connected to LAN and using this server to access the internet. So I also set the router so that it's a client to this server and any internet requests to the router will get forwarded to the server.

This all works. I can connect to it wirelessly or wired to the router, use it's DHCP server and whatnot, everything works.

However, two out of five 802.11 computers I cannot seem to be able to connect. The three computers that DO connect are 2x 802.11g and 1x 802.11b. The two computers that cannot connect are both 802.11g.

The computers that can connect correctly see our wireless network.
Both computers that cannot connect don't see the wireless network, but they see a "default" network instead. However, attempts to use the "default" network have thus far failed.

I'm guessing there might be some compatibility problem, but previously we had a LevelOne WAP-0003 access points and those gave us no trouble of this sort.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Thanks,
Jure

Maybe those other 2 wireless PCs are just out of range? Maybe try swapping out one of the working machines with a non-working machine to see if it can really get a signal in that spot.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, but currently I still don't have a solution. Further help would be appreciated.

The computers that can connect don't see the "default" network.
Those 2 computers that can't connect are both laptops and we also took them to the room with the router so there should be sufficient signal.
The router is obviously "g", but it's set up so that it works in both "b" and "g" modes, as necessary.

Eh, I feel stupid again. Changing the Channel number solved the problem. It seems there is another wireless AP in range using the same channel our router was set up to use.

Edit: WOW, just noticed I got to #200 post. I never thought I post so much. I need to cut back 😉
