To increase the number of wired internet ports in my basement I recently introduced a Barricade SMC7004VBR 4-port router between my Cable modem and Linksys WRT54G router upstairs.
The PCs connected to Barricade are assigned IP addresses (DHCP) starting from 192.168.2.100 with 192.168.2.1 as the gateway.
While WRT54G working in gateway mode and the cable from Barricade fed to internet input, the IP addresses of the PCs connected to Linksys router start from 192.168.1.100 (with 198.168.1.1 as the gateway). I could connect to the router admin interface at https://192.168.1.1
The problem in this setup is that the PCs connected to Barricade are not able to connect (not able to ping etc) with the PCs connected to WRT54G and vice versa
While playing with the setup in Linksys web browser interface under advance routing I saw the option of using WRT54G as 'router'. So I choose it and changed the connections such that the cable from Barricade is fed to one of the 4 ports on WRT54G, voila now all PCs can see each other as all are assigned IP addresses starting from 192.168.2.100 with 192.168.2.1 (of barricade) as gateway.
Now when I logon to barricade's admin interface it shows that it has issued IP address 192.168.2.128 to Linksys router but I am not able to logon to Linksys router at https://192.168.2.128 and not at https://192.168.1.1 either. even the ping to 192.168.2.128 says request timed out. Any ideas how can I logon to Linksys admin now ?

Thanks for the pointer Jack. I did a reset on linksys router and assigned it IP address myself as per the instructions. Now I can connect to it.
