linksys wrt54g and wre54g

I recently set up a wre54g to add on to my wrt54g 2.2 (dd-wrt 23). The situation is as follows. The client pc can connect to both the repeater and the router but it does not have access to internet.
I was able to connect thru the router from the client pc which was connected through the acess point.
My problem is that I don't have internet access on the client pc. It assoaciated with the network but there is no internet connection.

Do I need to use the DNS server.

By the way my network is set to a static IP and the client pc is on 192.168.1.238

is your router WEP enabled? have you ensured that the AP also has the WEp key? also are you sure that your AP has the correct subnet mask? and did you make sure you had the default gateway setup on the AP?

Yea Wep is disabled so i could hook it up. Also the subnet is 255.255.255.0 and the gateway is 192.168.1.1
