Linksys WRT54g and "OpenMesh" network?

Dougmeister

I have no idea if "Openmesh" is a good product or not. My buddy works for a non-profit and they use that for their wifi.

He is getting a weak signal, so I gave him an old Linksys WRT54g, thinking he could flash it with dd-wrt, tomato, etc. and have a repeater. He said he doesn't think that OpenMesh is compatible with it.

Is that true?

You expect a 802.11g router to work in a mesh? They should do a site survey and add, relocate wap accordingly, with openmesh hardware.

That's what he said they were gonna have to do. I was just trying to save them some money... didn't realize that they were locked into that tech.

A quick google search would answer the OP's questions. Though they use the word open... it appears to be a line of products.
