Linksys WRT1900AC = Amazing

I've now had mine installed for about a week and I'm totally blown away. My Netgear RC:6300 burned up at less then 1 year so I decided to go with Linksys again.

Current Setup:
3500sqft, 2 story brick home
Charter Internet
1 Windows Server 2012
1 HTPC
1 Main gaming/Work rig
Xbox One, 360 and PS3
3 Laptops
5 Smart phones
4 Tables - All Windows Based
Dish Hopper/Joeys X5
2 NEST Thermostats
Video Security System with 6 cameras, 4 LAN, 2 Wireless
3 Internet Connected TV's
2 WIFI Printers
4 Cisco Switches/Hubs
Wide range of other guest devices.

At any given time most of these will be connected, streaming or gaming and so far not a single hiccup! Price is definitely a bit steep but worth every penny so far.

Are you aware that Linksys is Not any more Linksys-Cisco but it is Linksys-Belkin?

Ugh. Has "SMART-WIFI", which appears to be cloud-based router config. Why own a router in the first place, if you are going to let some mega-corporation onto your network.

Given the previous issues with Cisco implementing web filtering by default, which sent all of your URLs to Cisco to monitor, I'm a bit understandably skittish about "Cloud routers".

Also, too expensive, no DD-WRT or Tomato == no deal.

I heard something about them changing again, not sure if it matters at all.

This may not be a perfect router for high end network people but for the typical user like myself I couldn't be happier.

Setup took less the 5 minutes. That included opening it up to see video system.

Streaming speeds are far better then any other I've experienced with multiple users.

Is that the interface that requires the CD to configure the dang thing? I thought that was so weird to force on newer models and ensures I'd never buy one or recommend to anyone. Even though its no longer Cisco owned I can see different interfaces or features requiring an active license to unlock your frickin router (damn you IOS 15).

I though that you can turn off / not use the smart wifi setup.

Also from when they initially introduced this unit, they have had it in mind for allowing DD-WRT specifically, or other alternate firmware as well.

Seeing as it has been out for a relatively short time, it will take a bit to get a firmware up and running

Cloud is big in the enterprise with Meraki wireless products and other devices.

If you are on the internet, technically everything you are doing is going out the same way regardless.
