I have a Linksys router that currently connects all my computers to the internet via Qwest Choice. When I try to connect with my SMC router it says that there is no internet connection, I release and renew to no avail. The WAN connect light is on and so is the light on the Qwest box. I have set it up the same way as the Linksys (Obtain IP). It is not a MAC address problem becuase I have up to five IPs from them. I have also updated the firmward but it is still a no go.

Try shutting off the cable modem and turning it back on?

Sometimes the cable modems need to recycle when bringing a new device on board.

Have you tried changing the MAC address on the SMC to match the Linksys?

It is possible that your cable company is rejecting a non-registered MAC address.
