Linksys WMP54G and 64bit XP

I have a little problem here. I have a Linksys WMP54G v4.51 network adapter and I am trying to install in my new build which is running XP 64bit. Now I know I am having problems because there are no 64bit drivers from Linksys. I did some searching and everybody says to use the ralink drivers but all the links to those drivers are dead.

I went to ralink's website and I downloaded what I thought was the right driver(rt2500) but it did not work. Will I be able to get this to work?

I'm not a big fan of wireless NIC drivers. I generally use multiple routers flashed to DD-WRT and running WDS mode. That way, you just have to plug in your computer's ethernet port in the LAN port of the WDS router, and it just works.

I really don't want to get into multiple routers. That can get a little complicated although I have done it before.

I just want to get this adapter working. Is this possible?

I have gotten this same wireless adapter working on XP64, Vista 64 and Win7 64.
The RT2500 is the correct driver. Are you installing it via Device Manager?

No, I didn't. I will try through the device manager. Can you give me a link just to make sure I have the right file?

I just tried through the device manager and it can not find the driver. I burned the driver to a cd and it does not recognize any drivers.

If I can't get this one working, what would be a good one to replace it with? I have a Linksys WRT54GS router so do I have to use the same brand of adapter? I have always have pretty good luck with Linksys products. I have thought upgrading to wireless n but would it be beneficial to me? With wireless g products, I receive full strength going through two floors, occasionally it will drop one bar. Is there any advantages to using wireless n or wireless g?

Upgrade to Win7 and it should autodetect it.
