How do you setup a Linksys BEFW11S4 wireless router so only specified mac addresses can connect to it? i.e. I want the mac addresses that I've specified in the router settings to be the ONLY ones allowed to connect to the router. If this is possible can someone please show me a step-by-step guide on how to configure this wireless router with my wireless computers? Thanks in advance.

Log into the router via browser. If its new the user name and password is in the manual maybe admin or something
under the wireless tab you will see Wireless MAC Filter click the link and select permit only and edit mac filter address.
I have a WGT54G Not identical but most-likely the same idea

Just mac filtering will keep people from accidently logging onto your router, but the mac address can easily be spoofed, so you'll need encryption for some real security.

I woudln't say MAC addresses can be easily spoofed but it is possible.

But the thing to remember is that for someone to hack into your wireless router, they need to be very close to your house. So you'll probably see a casr sitting out front with someoen typing on a laptop.

There are tons of security options out there but if you combine NOT broadcasting the SSID with MAC Filtering and even a WEP code... You really have nothing to worry about... Unless you have government secrets and people actually have a real reason they'd want to hack you.
