Linksys wireless problem

Yesterday evening all of a sudden my family was telling my they couldn't get the internet on the computers downstairs. I have a cable modem in my room connected to the linksys BEFW11S4 "Etherfast wireless accesspoint and Cable DSL router with 4 port switch" My computer is connected to the router through an ethernet cable, and 2 desktop computers downstairs are connected to it through 2 wireless USB adapters (both linksys).

I played around with the settings a bit and made sure that the wireless part of the router is still enabled. The weird part is that in the configuration, wireless is set to enabled, but on the front of the router the two lights (WLAN Act and WLAN Link) are not lit at all even though they should be. I went as far as doing a total reset of the settings with the little button on the back. The wireless lights on the front still don't lit up. The router is about 1 year old. If all else fails and i get a new router, should I get the same one? I've been happy with it so far, and I see it going for 80$ online. Are there better ones out there? I haven't seen many network components review sites.

Any help would be appreciated.

Questions for you: Even though you can't get out to the internet, can you access the other comps over your lan? Have you tried doing a firmware update for your Linksys? Did you try shutting down the cable modem and router, then turning on the modem first, then the router?

I cannot access any of the other computers on my LAN. I have tried Run> net send (computer name) (message) but that doesn't go through. I can't ping them either. I have tried turning off DHCP on the router and manually configuring the IP's but that doesn't help. I have updated to the current version of linksys firmware. I also tried shutting down both router and modem. I think it must be something with router configuration, since it works fine for this computer i'm currently on (which is connected through an ethernet cable)

I e-mailed linksys tech support, and they got back to me today with some configuration changes to try, but those don't work either.

Can you ping the router from any of the other comps? Can you connect the other comps with an ethernet cable to test connectivity? If not, it's starting to sound like a router gone south--sorry dude :(

Can your other computers search for a wireless network? (mine have this ability) That will at least tell you if the router is broadcasting a wireless net (and the ESSID and Channel as well).

If you can find that a wireless net exists and you can't get an IP check that you have DHCP enabled on the router and that you do not have MAC addres filtering enabled (or if you do that it is setup properly so that the correct MAC addresses can get an IP address).
