Linksys wireless networking problem - no connection

I'm trying to help out a buddy of mine with his laptop. I did a reformat/reinstall of WinXP and now I need to be able to access the web to download and install several updates for him. He's got a Dell Inspiron with a Linksys Wireless B notebook adapter. After doing a reformat, I installed the Linksys adapter driver. I have a Belkin Wireless B router on home network, and I'm trying to pick up a connection from it, but no luck so far. There's no Ethernet port on the computer otherwise I would use that to connect directly to my modem. Any ideas on what the problem might be? I'm pretty inexperienced at this, so it could be something fairly simple that I'm missing. Maybe a firewall issue? Anyway, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Never mind. Apparently the driver wasn't installed after all. All is well now.
