Linksys Wireless Network Unstable

I have a linksys access point and a usb wireless network adapter both 802.11b.
I keep getting disconnected every few minutes, and windows won't detect the network connection anymore. Then I have to reboot to get it back connected. The signal strength when I am connected is strong, as the base is only around 15 ft away from the adapter.
Anyone have any ideas what is going on?

EDIT: RESOLVED BY SWITCHING TO DLINK! SEE BOTTOM POST!

that's bs... why do I need to update to latest firmware just to get it working? linksys sucks...
I just bought both of them brand new

not really bs.. if anything, it's more work for them to update the drivers/firmware. at least they don't make you buy a brand new product

Try restarting the router/dsl first, make sure you've got all settings correct, even if that means the computer itself... if that doesn't work... upgrade the firmware, only takes awhile... and if the connection is still unstable, you probably got a defected product - unless you fried them. My first linksys router got fried after the second day (purchased new). After I exchanged it for free... damn, the router was a defect. So went back again to the store (free exchange)... and finally the third came out sweet.

if you use AOL running Win98... disable ATW under device manager. It disrupts the connection.

If there's no luck... talk to a Linksys Technician - they usually would help solve my connection problems.

Confirmed: Linksys sucks!
I called them, and the hispanic lady with a heavy accent attempted to help me. She told me everything that I did, and made me redo it, and then say it should work, which I already told her I tried that and it doesn't work, she says she can't do anything about it because it's currently working.
10 minutes later, disconnects again. Call up linksys again, they tell me the exact same thing, they are like a machine. Linksys technicians sucks!

Next day I'm fed up with this linksys crap and I RMA for D-Link. I have been using the dlink for 3 weeks now without one single disconnect.
STAY AWAY FROM LINKSYS!
