I have hooked up my usb network adapter (802.11b) to my computer. Whenever I boot to windows now it locks up, I have narrowed the problem down to a few possibilities, 1 it could be a problem with my game theater xp soundfusion program that is in the startup sequence, 2. it could be with the network config utility (provided by linksys) or 3. it is a combination of the 2. I currently have it running with just the network config utility in startup, this works about half the time, the other half it just locks up. Now my second problem is once I get that fixed it won't stay connected to the WAP. It will connect for a little while (like 1 min) send out about 10 packets and receive 2 then disconnect and claim that it is searching for the WAP. I know the signal is good (94%) so that isn't the problem. Things I have tried to fix this problem with: I have reformatted several times and each time I have done a clean install of windows 98 se. I have installed the latest VIA 4 IN 1'S, I am using the most current firmware and drivers for the adapter (and everything else for that matter). Now for my specs: Abit kt7a, 384 megs of pc-166 tonicom RAM (@133 fsb) 1.2ghz axia core thunderbird @1.2ghz, hercules game theater xp, Visiontek Geforce 2 ultra with the newest dets. Adaptec 29160 scsi card with a seagate cheetah ultra 2 hdd as my main hard drive. a generic 52x cd-rom and an acer 10x8x32 cdrw. Any input would be appreciated, I don't know what else to try!
