Today's Fry's ad had some pretty good prices on many of the Linksys Wireless G and GS units. Ad says "NO REBATE REQUIRED" and "NEW LOW PRICE". Dunno if Linksys is lowering prices or Fry's is or if these prices really will go away after next Tues.

WRT54G -- 59.99
WRT54GS -- 79.99
WKPC54G kit -- 99.99
WPC54G -- 49.99
WPC54GS -- 59.99
WMP54G -- 49.99
WMP54GS -- 59.99
WUSB54G -- 49.99

Just a heads up on the WRT54 series routers from Linksys...according to this link, a gaping security hole that has yet to be addressed by Linksys. Not sure if this belongs in here, but since there is a deal on these routers, I thought I add a post.

There are a lot of firmware hacks for the WRT54G, so problems like the one being written about can be fixed by the community. Contrast with other products which are fully closed, have similar security problems, and can't be fixed by the community.

The author of that post has now backed off a bit from his "Chicken Little" stance. His results seem inconclusive to me although there are conditions where there is a security hole, albeit one caused by the users themselves.

Here's more info, including his clarification....

Deal seems to be active on Outpost.com as well. I was going to order a WRT54GS somewhere else but ordered it for $79.99 plus shipping and minus a $10 rebate. Very nice.

It can't be the exact same deal because outpost is offering rebates, not price reductions. Also not all of the prices on Outpost are cheaper, for example the WMP54G is $69.99 at outpost but the OP cliams its $49.99 at Frys.
