Linksys Wireless Adapter Question...

I am trying to re-set up my wireless network (we moved and i had it setup before, but i can't exactly remember how I did it🙂 I had a router on my computer, and then i had two pcs with wireless network adapters, and one laptop, with a wireless card installed. It was all working great.

My question is...does it matter if i connect my modem using a usb or ethernet? will one of those NOT work with the wireless adapters. Because it seemed before I had it connected with a USB...and it seems like the dsl provider mentioned that i would have to use one certain way for the wireless adapters (but I might just be imagining that).

If I connect with a usb (modem to computer) then i just connect the ethernet from modem to router (router internet port, or one of the numbered ports?) OR can you not set it up like this? does the router have to plug into the PC. I am so confused. I just cant' remember how i had it. does it matter if you use usb or ethernet with the wireless adapters? .....and also, i shouldn't have to do any kind of setup in xp if i had it all setup before?

if anyone can please help--i would greatly appreciate it!!!!!
thanks

....i think i just have to use ethernet, no usb, right? i just use two ethernet cables...and hopefully everything works.

Hardware models would be nice, I'm a little bit confused about what you have to work with.

Ideally you will plug the modem into your wireless router with an Ethernet cable. Then the router can firewall and NAT and provide the internet to your computers over the wireless. A simple wireless bridge plugged into your modem won't work.

PC to LAN ports on router then ISP modem to WAN (internet port) on router. That's it for your hardwire cabling!

Next step is power cycle the modem for couple minutes then scanned for wireless network from the properties!

That's it!!!
