Linksys WAP11's losing connection

Okay, here's the network setup. There are two wired networks, one on the ground floor, and one in the basement. The DSL modem is connected to a Linksys BEFSR41 router on the ground floor. One of the ports of the router goes to a WAP11. The other WAP11 is in the basement and is connected to a Linksys Etherfast 5-port switch. Everything was set up, and the network in the basement was effectively connecting to the internet. However, after a few days the computers in the basement are no longer able to connect to the internet while the computers on the wired network upstairs are able to (so the DSL is still working).

The WAP's are configured to use 128-bit encryption on the same channel with identical passphrases. Both are in wireless bridge mode with correct MAC addresses directing them. The IP addresses of the WAP's are 192.168.1.200 and 192.168.1.201.

By the way these are version 2.6 WAP11's

Any ideas why they would now be losing the connection and also if there is a better way to set up the WAP11's please let me know, this is my first time using wireless

ping testing..as in ping what and from where?

I am not able to get to the configuration screen of the WAP in the basement from a computer on the upstairs network, if that helps at all.

Well if they're both on channel 5 and in the same house, they're probably interfereing with each other so I'd say yes... Try to keep your channels spaced out by at least 5 channels (although spacing of 2-3 does work for some people). Ie: with three ap's use 1,6, and 11 to avoid overlap.

So they should be on different channels when in wireless bridge mode?

The WAP11's are just simulating a wire going from the ground floor to the basement if that helps.

Sorry missed the bridge mode, but I would still try a different channel. When you pull a wire not much changes and I'd look elsewhere when a problem crops up suddenly. There's alot of stuff in the 2.4 gig band though, maybe a neighbor just set one up, or someone in the area bought a new cordless phone, etc.
