My roommate wants to play Starcraft behind our Linksys router with 4 port switch, but everytime he tries to play it lags like crazy and he can't play. Anyone know why this might be happening?
you need a unique IP address to play, whats prolly happening is someone connected to the switch is running another app requiring the use of the IP address, this is where you would need to get additional IP address. In my home network I have 3 ip's, everyone in my home are heavy blizzard gamers, so each comp needs there own IP so we can 3v3 in starcraft, warcraft 2/3, etc.
Try going into the router settings (192.168.1.1 is the address for linksys) and going to advanced then going to DMZ Host and put your roommates internal IP address in there. That might help, it's worth a try.
