HI ,
Currently i have speedstream 5360 modem from my isp and i am using linksys BEFSR41 v2. I am having disconnect problem with my connection when it changes the IP address. When the modem change the ip, i get disconnected. ANyone have an idea what is causing the problem ? The router or the modem ? I tried to search dslreport for answer .. no luck.

Hmmm, you shouldn't have to reset the Modem, the Router is not sending a Get PPOe command properly then. Check the settings to make sure it is set to Login on loss of connection (should say stay connected or stay alive etc).

Sometimes the ISP connection flips out and I could get a new IP every 13 seconds but the Router just kept up with the changes and clicked right along.

well i did restart my router at the first time ..but no luck. Something like my router is not detecting the modem after it change ip. But once i reset my modem everything running. I did a search at dslreport forum a few days ago ... one guy having the situation as me. They suggest flash the router firmware to 147 . Well i did and now i will wait for a day or 2 to see if that works for me. So far so good ...

I am not familiar with the Linksys Router menus.

In my Routers there is a few menu entries that have to be check to keep the connection always a live, and to obtain IP automatically.

What is the lease period set as in the setup menu? Maybe it was set to expire every few hours previously, and the bios update may have corrected it to a longer lease period.

Sorry What do you mean lease period ? In my router setup menu only have 2 choices....

Connect on Demand: max idle time and Keep Alive: Redial Period

I choose keep alive: redial period of 180s

Doh ..

Emm my lease time is 0 . Mean one day i guess. SO if i change that i able to solve my disconnection ?

After flash my firmware to 1427 the problem still exist. The dialer disconnect when the isp change the ip adress (dynamic). The router take too much time to reconnect, if reconnected.
