Linksys Router problem and Cox cable?

TheNeck

Senior member
I have a linksys router (4 port) with 3 computers connected and it was
working fine until a few days ago. I now have a problem that I cannot get to
certain sites. 75 - 85% of the sites work. The sites that don't work I could
not ping either.

1. I have connected my computer directly to the cable modem and I can get to
the sites that I have problems going to when I was going through the router.

2. Another interesting note, I called Cox for help while I was going through
the router and according to the tech guy, it looked like as if I has two
computers connected when I had the router and 1 computer on.

Thanks in advance for your help!

That more than likely is caused by DNS server problem at your ISP site. I had this problem yesterday through AT&T cable modem and the problem was fixed after several hours.

Regarding number of computers your ISP can see: Your ISP has no idea how many computers are online each time. The tech-support saw two MAC Addresses were registered with their server under your user name -- one is your network card and another is your router. I guess you used your connection without router before. This can also be caused by changing network cards.
