Anybody having similiar issues with the Linksys router?

WRK54G with WPA encryption running off ATT DSL. It's a router I put in a few months and it gets more and more annoying. The problems starts with the wireless not working first in about a day or two, then the wireless is gone. Then the wire router part goes. Then I have to unplug and replug the power. Everything works fine afterward. It does not appear to be a modem issue though, but who knows. Anybody run into this situation and what was the fix? I have not try the firmware fix yet, would like to hear the best fix option first before going that rout since I have to reconfigure all my VPN stuff if i flash the thing. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like it's time to replace that router.
The last router I had would do the same thing, would lose both wired/wireless connections and it would no longer remember the settings. I replaced it and problems were fixed.

just a note have a friend of mine who has warned me off of linksys routers (head of IT for a good size company). He stated that without fail every linksys router he used failed.

Okay, thanks guys! I'm going to try the firmware fix first. If that does not solve the problem, I'll use the Netgear router then. Every Linksys that I used ending up hating it. I guess this one is next in line going to e-waste collection or ....

Netgear rules! My Linksys experience was also unsat.

I must admitt I have had a least 5 linksys wag54g v1 & v2 fail. I had staff purchase them as they were good for loging into our work network. I have had the wag200g for 6 months now without issue. I believe the old models had heat issue which wireless cards inside couldnt handle...

I had that happen to one of my routers but it was 4 years old and the one thing that fixed it was to replace it.

my wrt54g was doing similar things, switched to linux and put a startup script that keeps a smaller cache and all has been well for like 3 or 4 years.

Without fail every car I have ever driven has failed within 50 years. ;)

It does seem that some of the newer Linksys consumer model routers aren't very reliable, but that doesn't mean all of them are unreliable. My WRT54G is still working just fine after four years of abuse. The only time I have ever had to reset it was when the power in my house failed, or when I made changes to the settings/firmware.

Yes but having networking products fail in less than a year is quite ridiculous. I have heard of some having good luck with these. Some. But the majority has been negative.
