I have SBC and was thinking of doing the same.
I believe you do use PPPoE. Other than that...
I assume you have a modem in addition to that. Theroretically couldn't you have the modem DHCP the Router, and the Router DHCP the computers?

It depends on the kind of DSL modem they provided you. Some DSL modems have PPPoE built in, which means you just leave the router set to DHCP (as per cable modem). If your DSL modem does not have built-in PPPoE, then you have to change the router from DHCP to PPPoE.

My company (not BellSouth) now uses only modems with PPPoE built in, so we don't have to worry about loading WinPoET on the user's PC.

Did you use PPPoE client before you had a router? If so then guess what? You gotta setup the PPPoE settings on the router (just like you did before in Windows).

I was using USB with laptop. No PPPoE client that I'm aware of. Will try setting up as direct ethernet and figure out, unless someone knows for sure.
