Linksys router BEFSR11 - disabling dhcp breaks some of the hosts behind the router

I want to use port forwarding, but it says you must diable DHCP server in order to do this

I disabled it but I am having troubles getting through the router with DHCP disabled..

I have it working on a Windows XP machine and Linux machine, but not on windows 2000 and win98 which are also behind the router.

The router?s LAN ip address is 192.168.0.69

I set the tcp/ip settings on the windows 2000 machine to :

Ip address ? 192.168.0.5 / 255.255.255.0
Default gateway - 192.168.0.69
DNS ? 192.168.0.69

With this, I can ping websites (www.yahoo.com) and ping ip addresses on the internet, but internet explorer will not pull up any pages. It does a dns lookup on a domain successfully, but wont pull up the page. I have it set to connect through the lan and ?never dial a connection? etc. etc.

setting the default gateway and dns to 192.168.0.69 works fine for my XP machine and linux box, but not 2k or 98 for some reason
