This problem just happened last night. I disonnected the connection from my pc to my hub so I can move my case to install some fans. When I finished and connected everything back up, my Linksys BEFSR41 v2 router refused to make a connection with my VIA integrated Ethernet card, on the Soyo Dragon+ mobo. I tried switching cables. Didn't work. Installing and uninstalling the drivers for the card. Didn't work. Finally I called tech support and after a little bit, the tech support lady had me go to Network Connections | Properties | Configure | Advanced | Connection Type and had me change from Auto-Negotation to 10BaseTFull Duplex. It worked.
But the problem is, that I was connected at 100BaseTFull before. Before I would be able to connect to my router at 100BaseTFull and it was fine with it. So what's with the sudden change. I just went and upgraded the Firmware on my router and that didn't help. When I do try to select 100BaseT, WindowsXP reports that a network cable has been unplugged. Also note, that I have not changed my Cat5 cable, its the same one I've been using before, so I don't think it's my cable. So my question is, how come I can't connect at 100BaseTFull to my router?
