Linksys router and Quake III Arena

I was wondering if anybody knew anything about the 4-port linksys routers. I've got a cable connection going into a hub, and a router plugged into the hub. When I play QIIIA, I get booted off the servers every now and then when I'm connected to the router. However, when I plug directly into the hub (bypassing the router and connection to my ISP directly) I don't have any problems. I thought about opening the ports on the router, but I'm not sure if that would help. Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

You have to foward the ports that quake 3 uses. I'm not sure what ports it uses. Have you tried using the DMZ option? That will make the computer not use the firewall and all the ports will be open

Ok -- I've got the latest firmware and I've DMZ'd two different computers, but to no avail. Servers still kick me off. And its not anything I can time or see coming. Its the most random acts. Some nights it won't happen at all, and then some nights its every fifteen minutes. And its only when I connect through the router...

My friend has the Linksys Cable/DSL Router and expierenced the same problems. He forwarded the ports, updated the firmware and all is good. He can host Q3A as well as join any servers. We played Q3A on my friend's server for over 3 hours last night without a single glitch.

I have the linksys 4 port router plugged directly into the modem and I can play on any Q3 server, my son on his system (using the same router and connection)can play on any Q3 server at the same time, just not the same game. I didnt do any thing special, just dhcp and no dmz or ip forwarding.
