Linksys router and ftp server

Hi i've had an ftp set up on my computer for a while, and i recently got a linksys 4 port router. Now my ftp site doesn't work. It works fine when i dont go through teh router and all other internet functions work when i am using teh router.

The only way i have been able to connect to my ftp through a friends computer is to use flashfxp and enable the setting "Site uses Ip/Masq/Nat/Non routable IP". Anyone know why?
As i said everything works fine but my ftp site. and i have my computer set up as DMZ on teh router.

i have the same problem on my dlink router. i've opened port 21 and assigned it to my computer's local ip via the software that comes with the router, but it doesn't seem to help. anyone?

Linh, you need to forward port 20 also.

dartblazer, The Linksys router uses NAT to do the sharing. That's why you have to enable that feature.

Turn off DMZ unless you have a specific task you use that needs it, because it opens a gaping security hole to your computer. To run your ftp server go to the advanced setting of the router and foward port 21 to your internal LAN IP.
