My parents have an AOL Plus DSL that they would like to share between two computers, I was thinking that maybe if I could find a router that handled PPPOE I would be set .
So there was a deal on the wireless Linksys w/4port switch and I got in on it, Started configuring the router and could not connect using the routers pppoe configuration screen. I realized that maybe AOL did not use your screen name as the PPPOE username so I downloaded a sniffer and examined the traffic during an AOL login and put what looked like the username into the username field of the linksys router, The router was able to connect using PPPOE, get an IP addresss and dns server address from verizon but I still wasnt able to even ping the DNS address obtained from the PPPOE connection from a client PC, It looked like the default route address (on the wan side) was not getting filled in.
Has anyone out there had any luck with sharing verizon adsl using a linksys router ?
