I just got a Linksys WRT54G Router with a WMP54GS adapter. When I try to install the adapter on my older PC with Win98, I have some problems. It worked at first, the device name appeared correctly in device manager. Then I removed my older card from the list and now my wireless adapter is detected as "PCI network controller". I tried to run the setup again with no luck. I tried the "reinstall driver" thing but my INF doesn't seem to work with that... I'm getting desperate, I tried a lot of stuff! Updated with Intel chipset utility, reset drvdata.bin, drvidx.bin.... I changed slot, reinstalled "client for microsoft network", Dial-up adapter, TCP-IP... I went in safe mode to try all this stuff with no result. On top of that, I can't find my Win98 CD so I can't format!! Any ideas? Don't tell me to put XP because this PC wouldn't take it too well (400celeron 96MB ram lol) it's only for typing and sending stuff anyway... There as to be some Win98 expert still around
