Linksys LNE100TX NIC in Win2k

I have 2 LNE100TX NIC's w/ WOL. One is version 2.0, the other is version 4.0. I've tried to install both in a Win2k box. When booting, both are detected, it finds the drivers on the floppy, but gives me the error:
An error occurred during the installation of the device
The style of the INF is different than what was requested

I've used the supplied 2.0 and 4.0 drivers. I also downloaded tested Win2k drivers from Linksys for the 2.0. All give the same error.

I just installed Win2k Pro tonight, tried the NIC a few times. Installed Service Pack 1, tried a few more times. Always the same error.

Any Ideas?
Thanks

I think you're using the wrong INF file if you are using the one in the "root" directory of your floppy or download. You need to point the prompt to the Windows 2000 Directory instead. LMK if that was the problem

Interesting... I remember that being my problem when I was using a linksys card a few months ago. Perhaps you should install them one at a time to make sure you are installing the correct driver for each. I'm pretty sure that the different revisions of the card require different device drivers. Even so, it's possible that using two different revisions of the card in the same computer may not work. But just start with the basics and try to get one card working then the other. Good luck.

I tried them one at a time. I only need one of them to work. After swapping a few times, I did leave both in and try. Always the same error.

Thanks for your help.

Darn, sorry we couldn't work it out. Have you tried a "clean" install?

Perhaps someone else has ideas?

I just put this box together this week. Formatted the HDD and installed Win2k Pro tonight.

I'm stumped.

Thanks for your help.
