Linksys G PCI card woes

I have a new G router which works great with my laptop, but my downstairs desktop is giving me a headache. The crappy Linksys connection software shows it searching for a connection. It would connect before I enable WEP, but now that I need to make a profile (third tab) I need to "connect" in the second tab. Well my network shows up and I can select it, yet the connect button is grey. I reinstalled the utitlity from the CD and it worked.. once. I went to change something and I'm back with a greyed out connect buton. How does Linksys make money with this crappy software? My last B generic card worked fine, my laptop with the IBM Proset works great, Liknsys sucks.

Any ideas?
