Picked up a basic Linksys E1200 router the other day. Every couple of days, the wireless cuts out & I cannot access the 192.168.1.1 admin page. It still lets wired devices have Internet access, however. Nothing funky in tracert. I have to pull the plug on the router to get it to reset. Very strange. I updated to the latest firmware and it's still doing it.
It's not a range issue; it's like the wireless transmitter in the router simply shuts off and has to be power-cycled to be turned back on again. All of my wireless devices lose signal, even the ones 10 feet away. That plus I can't access the admin page, which is weird and points to a software glitch to me, since it's still routing wired devices just fine. I turned on logging tonight, but it seems pretty basic, so my guess is that it won't tell me much. I guess I could try DD-WRT or Tomato, or just return it, but I'd like to see if there's something I can do to fix it first.
