Linksys DSL 4-port router. PPPoE settings don't stick when I change them. PPPoE is always listed as disabled.

I've tried 1.33 and 1.36 (stock) with no difference.

The computer sees the linksys fine - I can log into the setup pages on the Linksys EtherFast DSL Router no problem. However, when I try to enable the PPPoE settings it says it was successful, but when I check the status, the PPPoE is always disabled. (Not enabled with no connection, just disabled. There is no option to connect.)

This is for Sympatico DSL.

PPPoE with EnterNet (Access Manager) works fine.

This is in Win 2000 and 98. In Win 2000 I've uninstalled EnterNet, but I don't know how to uninstall any left over stuff, if any. In Win 98 I have left EnterNet intact.

The cable modem's ethernet output is plugged into the linksys WAN port.

Yes. :(

EDIT:

P.S. Ping times are fine. Always 10 ms. It's just that the settings are always the same. If I do try to change it, it says it's successful, the DIAG LED lights up red for a few seconds. Is this normal?

Then when I go back to check my "successful" change, nothing has registered.

Try a hard reset of the Router (hold the button in on the router for reset.)
Then re-enter your settings.

Tried resetting about 5 times. Anyways, Linksys tells me it's busted. Gonna get another on the w/e.

(Tried it on 4 different OSes, on 3 different computers, on 2 different networks. Same problem.)
