Funny that they don't mention DOCSIS-complaint in the description. I'm almost positive that it's new enuff to be v1.1 compliant

Nice deal might have to start saving myself $10 a month and buy my own modem. :)

It's DOCSIS 1.0 compliant. Here's a link to the specs on the Linksys site. It's a pdf file.

The Linksys ftp site seems to be down for the count now. Amazon's product info has some added technical info.

Before you go out and buy this, call your cable company to make absolutley sure it'll be compatible with their network. I have never seen this modem myself, and it's not for lack of dealing with cable modems.

From AT&T site:
>>> Please note that if you are eligible and opt to purchase a modem for your service, transfer fees and service appointment charges may apply.<<<

Wonder what the fees are to switch?

I got one of these the other day - pm to online vendor found on pricewatch = 101. less the 30. rebate = 71.
was getting about 512 down on dsl reports and 256 up (actual numbers were mid 400's down and 220's up)
Now w/ this modem I'm the same down and running an unbelieveable 640's - 700 up!!! Good modem!
Called cable co. gave them mac address - had me switched over in about 15 min.
This one rocks on my service.

How do I know what model # this is? I can't find it anywhere on the staples site.

Hmm... this was already posted, and for $25 cheaper! Try reading here:
link to article

Why spend more when you can spend less? (I am pretty sure that they're the same item, right?) :D Also, some people say that the above linked deal cannot be done, but I disagree... :)

Yeah... read that. BTW, very nice essay on Staples and PMing!
The only kink is using a coupon and PM'g.

Some stores allow it others don't.... hmmm I have 4 stores in my area. Odds are 1 out of 4 should do the deal!

my essay was directed at Staples.com. I am quite sure that if you try some of my tactics at a B+M Staple, that they wont work. The thing that allows you to pull this stuff off over the phone is the ability to talk to 20 different CSRs and no managers. :D I have tried to slip stuff as basic as a PM and coupon past an instore CSR and been shot down every time. Only buy from staples online! There is really no reason to go into the store, unless its like a day-after-thanksgiving sale or something.

just brought this modem at lunch time today, and noticed that it didn't say anything about DSL, so does this modem work with DSL too?
and it looks like it's non-stackable with other linksys device.

At&T is gay! They can't change the cable modem MAC address over the phone, and making me bring in my leased modem and my new linksys modem into my local payment center, so they can change it there...what a waste of time! Did you guys have to do this too or were you able to change it over the phone?

i got the toshiba for $116 at newegg and i'm willing to replace it w/ this Linksys if it offers better connection speeds and better price too!
yes, i'm that frugal!!!

Anyone know if this modem works with TimeWarner/RoadRunner???
Also, what is a MAC address? Is it something I can change or is it hardwired?
Thanks

A MAC address is a number found on the back of your cable modem. Usually is will have the word MAC next to it. I don't know if it works with TimeWarner, but got a email from a guy who is using it on Cox Roadrunner. I think the ISP uses the number to identify you, otherwise it won't let you grab an IP.
