Due to cabling restrictions, I was recently forced to go wireless in a few instances. I bought a Linksys BEFW11S4 router and the Linksys WUSB11 Wireless USB Adapter. Both have the latest firmware, drivers, etc. I have one wireless connection (basement to router) and 3 wired connections. The wired connections have all worked flawlessly in the past, so there is not a problem with the cabling.
Once I installed the router I noticed a new occurence. All connections, both wireless and wired, were experiencing some freaky stuff. For example, web pages needed to be refreshed to be loaded, there were constant timeouts, connections to FTP would drop, etc. This never used to happen with the network being just hard-wired. I could see there might be interference or what-not if only the Wireless connection was being affected, but all connections are having problems. For example, on AIM, theres constantly a 1-2 min delay between sending IMs and/or viewing a buddies profile, and with America Online (which my parents use on the network), theres always a timeout while trying to sign on, sign off, or switching screen names. I exchanged the router for a new one, yet still the same problem. What I found is that when I choose an IP address to be under the DMZ, that specific host works fine. 100%, no time-outs, no problems whatsoever. Doesn't matter if its wired or wireless, things function as they should with that host when its chosen under DMZ.
Anyone have any suggestions or clue to what may be happening?
