Linksys BEFSX41 "Latest Firmware"/Firewall Issue

Hello,

I have a Linsys BEFSX41 Router/switch/firewall with a DSL modem and 2 Ethernet PC's. With my "old" firmware, the Firewall works fine, and I can still access all of my websites I surf.

When I go and update to the current Firmware (1.50.18), everything works fine, BUT I can not get to most of my sites with the Firewall turned "on". IE detects the page ("Website Found, Waiting For Reply"), but goes no further.

Sites like Hotmail, Yahoo, and my work's E-Mail login won't work, but sites like Google work fine. My LAN always works fine - no matter what firmware version I'm running. Reverting back to the old firmware still works fine (all sites work fine) even with the firewall "ON". I have done this process (old to new, back to old) about 5-6 times now with the SAME results.

I did try deleting all cookies and temp internet files with no luck.

I even went and tried to forward port 80 to my internal LAN IP, and still did nothing. I also checked all of the firewall settings, and I had it set to the "tamest" setting, and still blocked 80% of my websites.

If I turn "Off" the Linxsys firewall, all sites work just fine. So why does the "Upgraded" firmware/firewall block most of my sites, and the old firmware passed my sites just fine?

PS - This problem affects BOTH internet PC's on this router, so it is NOT a local PC issue...

Thanks for any help!

Update:

I found some great info over at Broadband Reports.com on the "Linksys" forum.

Apparently Linksys botched the latest firmware pretty bad. It blocks most DSL services, and has other issues as well.

I'm staying with my old firmware, and I will try 1.51 when it is proven reliable (beta is already out).

Hope this can help somebody with a BEFSX41 and DSL!

Later
