Linksys BEFSR81 router and Netgear ethernet card

I can hook up my computer directly to the cable modem and it works fine with the Netgear card, but when I try to go through the router, the activity lights on both the router and card blink on and off every few seconds as if the connection is being interrupted (not blinking or steady as it normally is with my other computers w/o netgear cards). I tried switching out cables to cables that are known to work and I get the same problem. Thus, a conflict between these two brands is the only thing I can think of. Has anyone had this problem or know of a fix for it?

Try a ping to the router for at least 50 cycles, and see how much packet loss you are getting. Also, grab a packet sniffer, and see what is moving through that link.
