I've been in touch with Linksys regarding a peculiar issue:

Laptop: Dell Inspiron 8100 w/ SMC 10/100 NIC (PCMCIA). The built in Actiontec's RJ-45 jack wore out from over-use. i bought this laptop new in 1/02.

I have two routers, a BEFSR41 v1 router and a BEFSR41 v3 router.

Let's say the v1 router is the head of ALPHA LAN, and the v3 router is the head of BRAVO LAN (by head I mean the source of all connections leading from the cable modem).

In ALPHA lan, i have a hub and a switch as well as the router.

The Switch is connected to one of the main ports of the router, and the hub is connected to one of the switch's ports.

So it's V1 router, Switch, Hub with computers hooked up to either three.

Any PC in this system (including the laptop in question: Dell Inspiron 8100) can ping one another with 65kb packets AND use the Sisoft Sandra 2002 Pro network bandwidth benchmark properly.

Ok let's move onto BRAVO LAN.

I have the v3 router and that's it. I have 2 desktops hooked up to the router and they can send 65kb packets w/o any problem to one another.

I attach the laptop, and it works fine - EXCEPT it cannot send/recv packets larger than 10kb nor can it perform the Sandra network bandwidth benchmark.

I've switched ports on the v3 router, I've done everything and I think I've stumped Linksys as well. The V3 router does not appear to be faulty or damaged, and I've reflashed the firmware to no avail.

Any suggestions?

I'm not running any software firewalls nor am I uisng XP's firewall. All PCs are running the same AV software.
