This router has been a total terror...

Problem: Port forwarding is random, somedays it works fine, other days not.

- Firmware updated (several times just to make sure it's not me)
- Linksys FAQ gone over with fine tooth comb.
- DHCP turned off, all PC's have unique IP and connect to the internet fine.
- DMZ enabled to main PC, doesn't seem to matter... router still blocks ports.
- I've reset and reconfigured the modem and cycled power, doesn't matter.
- Port forwarding addresses are entered properly.

So no matter what I try it blocks ports. My Vonage phone arrived in the mail today and I've failed to figure out why the router won't respond to the desired ports being openned. Please help.

You're not alone . . .. .

I HAD the Linksys BEFSR41 v2, and I am sure glad I got rid of that thing. It was just an earlier edition of yours I purchased in 2002, which worked fine when I bought it. THen, recently like a month ago it started to crap out on me. I noticed that every computer that was connected would be disconnected every 20 minutes and logged in and out of the PPOE. I did all the firmware upgrades and had an RMA request done by Linksys. But, whats the use of getting another useless router. Maybe I just have bad luck with routers or something else? I just had a bad experience with Linksys. Don't get me wrong, the damn router looks nice though it just doesnt get the job done. So, I purchased a NEtgear Wireless G router a few days ago, which works flawlessly and havent been disconnected since. What a relief!! If I were you, I'd save some time and frustration, go get another router. YEah, I didn't want to either, but after so many posts about problems of it. I gave up and gave into NETGEAR. So far, so good. TextText

Hmm, I have a BEFSR41 v2 and it's working great so far. I've had it for over a year.

Maybe these were just two "lemons"? :(

I've worked around most of it. If I have any more issues I'll try a Netgear router.

Thanks for the comments guys.
