I just bought a linksys BEFSR41 version 3 router and was using bit torrent when i noticed it crashes my router (dang it.. it just crashed again gah!! ):| . I reset the switch but then later on it would crash again. When I don't use bit torrent everything is stable and runs fine with good speed. Somebody told me that Bit torrent is making too many sessions and is overloading the router thus making it crash. But I was wondering if there was a way for me to alleviate this problem or fix it somehow.

I use Bit Torrent mainly to download Anime. I usually only have 1 or 2 Bi ttorrent windows open.

Any help would be appreciated. Maybe I should have gotten a Cisco soho91.

Keep it limited to 1 bittorrent session. Also use one of the clients taht allows you to limit the number of connections you have. I was having the same problem with my Netgear MR814 (or something like that). I just don't think the consumer home "routers" can handle the type of connections bittorrent uses.

Thanks for the response. After many many tries and as you suuggested I only used one bit torrent window the router still crashed and had to be reset. Later I found out that the router still crashed even though I wasn't using bit torrent. I gave up on the linksys and will go back to my Linux server and wait for a Cisco soho91 to come out cheap maybe with coupons. If the cisco can't handle it I don't think I would shovel out a thousand bucks for a good cisco router.
