I am about to buy this router for my cable internet connection. Can anyone give me any input on it or reasons to not buy it?

It's a good router and I have been using the same one for about three months with not one single problem. The only thing you might have to do is clone the MAC address and it tells you exactly how to do it in the manual.I say go ahead and get it;)

I don't know about the V2 model, but I have a BEFSR11 and a BEFSR41 running on two different connections (one at home, one at school) and I love them both. Routers are pretty much all identical with a few minor (but generally unnoticeable) differences, and aside from some initial problems of dropped connections with older revisions of the firmware, both models have served me well for the last 1+ years. I get a Stealth reading at Steve Gibson's Shields Up tester for both routers (with the exception of my BEFSR41 that deliberately has port 80 open for a web server), and they're both very easy to set up.

Good buys, overall. I also have a Linksys 8-port switch and they coordinate VERY well with each other. :D

Linksys 4 port router here. I am using charter pipeline and all I had to do is hook the cable modem to the router then the PC to each port. Nothing more the router did the rest and I could surf on all 3 PC's just fine. Only thing I don't like is IP forwarding which you might have to do with some of the apps you use. But once you get the hang of it, it will be easy.

OK everybody... I bought it and it set itself up right out of the box well. I had to forward port xx for my FTP server, but does anyone know what I will have to do to set up online gaming?

You won't have to do anything unless you plan on hosting servers. If you want to do that you will have to enable dmz on the pc that will be hosting. This is a very easy process done in the setup page. You can look at the manual for detailed instructions. I too own a linksys router and am loving it. Make sure to clone your mac address!
